Command Line: I would like to learn how to restore APFS SSDs that have been corrupted

I have three or four Samsung 860 SSD drives, with APFS containers that have become corrupted in one way or another (by my efforts to load Linux or do other things).

It seems I need to learn how to do things properly.

I know DiskWarrior won’t do it.

I was finally able to create a bootable Ubuntu USB drive (since I was shown how to enable GOP by flashing the firmware on the computer and GPU). That allowed the Radeon RX580 to show me a boot selection screen; without that, it’s very difficult to choose an Ubuntu drive on boot.

Ubuntu has GParted and TestDisk. And as far as I know now, neither of them will help me repair damaged drives.

However, I have read about people in this group who do have the knowledge to get the terminal to provide the necessary information, interpret it correctly, and then, at least in some cases, fix things.

I want to learn that. Otherwise, I’m likely to end up asking myself the same questions over and over again.

What are the right sources where I can learn what I need to know? I am willing to do the work and help others once I have learned.

I will be happy to answer any questions that will help find solutions to the problems I am having.

Thanks for any help.
